As a part of our dream to help make our city a more generous, grace-filled place for all of its residents, and for as many people as possible to know God's personal love for them, our church has a ministry initiative that we call Love K-W. This ministry is designed to help us as a whole church participate together in serving our city in practical, 'no strings attached' ways so that people in our city get to see the love of Jesus in action. These Love K-W intiatives live at the very heart of our church, reflecting our value to seek to live out our faith by lovingly serving others in an authentic, practical way that points both those being served and those serving to our generous servant leader, Jesus Christ.

 
LARGE GROUP INITIATIVES

Serving Through LOVE K-W Sundays:
For the past 4 + years,  The Journey has hosted what we have called  Love K-W Sundays as one way to involve our whole church in serving our city. On these designated Sundays, instead of meeting for our regular worship, families and singles work side by side blanketing our community with deliberate acts of kindness.

Serving opportunities varied, allowing every person involved an opportunity to share their Christian faith in  practical ways that matched their comfort level and interests. More importantly, these days have allowed the people of our city the opportunity to see Jesus' love in action. 

For the coming year, in order to allow us as a church to go deeper in developing relationships with our neighbours, and to develop deeper partnerships with other agencies who share our passion to make a difference in our city, we are putting our Love K/W Sundays on hold, so that we can develop a number of SMALL GROUP initiatives that allow us to serve our community on a more deliberately regular basis.  In the future we hope to consider holding LOVE K/W Sundays again, both for the energy and the impact that they have made.

SMALL GROUP INITIATIVES

Love K/W Light:

Each month, following a Sunday Service, participants in The Journey community are invited to participate with others in a one-time servant evangelism opportunity.    You can sign up for these serving opportunities at our Journey Sunday Services or by contacting Marlene Hoekstra.

Loving Our City Teams:

Several Serving Teams at The Journey regularly serve our city in practical ways.   You can check out our Small Group page for more information about these opportunities.

Each Small Group connected with The Journey is strongly encouraged to plan opportunities to serve our city together as a as a part of their group experience. We do this deliberately, with the expectation that not only do our neighbours get to see God's love in action, but those who participate in serving get to experience the joy and growth that God sends our way only when we put our faith into action.

ONE ON ONE INITIATIVES

As a part of our desire to see each individual connected at The Journey personally experiencing the joy of serving others with the love of Jesus, we offer a number of ways for people connecting with The Journey to find out how they can make a difference for Jesus in our city.   A few of these intiatives are in the works and will be added here soon!
